New York Fed’s Williams Sees No Urgency to Cut Interest Rates
Friday, April 19, 2024       04:56 WIB

Bloomberg - Federal Reserve Bank of New York President John Williams said that there's no rush to lower interest rates and economic data will determine the timing.
"I think we've got interest rates in a place that is moving us gradually to our goals, so I definitely don't feel urgency to cut interest rates," Williams said at the Semafor World Economy Summit in Washington.
He added, "I think eventually my expectation is that as inflation gets all the way to 2% on a sustained basis as the economy is in good balance, interest rates will need to be lower at some point, but the timing of that is driven by the economy."
